The role – Finance and Payroll Officer... We are looking for a Finance and Payroll Officer to join our Wirral office. Like any organisation, the effective and timely management of finance is a key requirement to the ongoing success of our company. We pride ourselves in being the most competitive school employment business in the North West and we have a commitment to our schools to always ensure that our financial information is managed accurately and timely. The role is to start Tuesday, 21st July 2026. We can be flexible with this start date but we are keen to ensure a successful handover.This is a part time role working 3 days per week (ideally Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday but we are open to a discussion on these days), working 7 hours per day. If required, we can show some flexibility with these hours for the successful candidate. Salary is £18,564.00 (£33,150.00 FTE).

This is a permanent role.

The role is based in our beautiful, breath-taking office in the picturesque village of Thornton Hough. Our office is a Grade 2 listed building and part of the Lord Leverhulme Trust. It is easily accessible by car or bus as we are located on the main Wirral bus route. We also have ample car parking available.

The successful candidate will be joining a warm, welcoming, and successful team and will benefit from our training and development packages. It would be desirable for you to have experience of working in a financial setting, even it that may be in a different sector. A good understanding of Excel, QuickBooks and BrightPay (or similar payroll and accountancy packages) would be essential. Who are we looking for...

We are seeking a detail-orientated and highly organised person. You will have excellent attention to detail. You will be a great team player but with the ability to work on your own.You will be passionate about your role.We need someone who will be fully committed to the role.You will be fiercely loyal.You will be competent in using MS products particuarly Excel .You will have an understanding of accountancy and payroll systems (particularly Quickbooks. BrightPay) You will be flexible and adaptable in your approach. Strong understanding of accounting principles and payroll procedures.Demonstrable data entry skills with high accuracy levels .Experience managing accounts payable processes and performing financial analysis .Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively under tight deadlines. Previous exposure to analysing financial data and preparing detailed reports is advantageous.This role requires a proactive approach, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt swiftly to organisational needs while maintaining compliance standards.
